The jasmine is by far my favorite flower
Though not as elegant as the orchid
Or glamorous as the rose
Its fragrance is pure and strong, seductive
Like a steadfast love or a close friendship
With someone you care for deeply and profoundly
In the morning as the sun rises
I discover tears in the eyes of those that I love
The poisonous snake bites – leaving innocent victims
In their pain they cry out, wounded and dying
But they do not survive despite my best efforts
Through all this pain I strive to hold on
I remember the love in the eyes of those that are lost
And in the sky I see clouds
Taking the form of a jasmine flower
The sky opens up and cries with me
Icy rain pelting my face as I look up
There it is, in the rain, the pure and seductive scent
And the hint of the jasmine
that was always in her eyes
