Dr. Julio Antonio del Marmol’s latest mission into Cuba is seriously derailed when he arrives to find his contact in serious trouble with the local military authorities. Though his mission to obtain the information regarding a planned terrorist attack in the United States is of critical importance, the immediate danger to his contact and her entire family is more pressing. His aid starts a chain reaction of events which lead him further and further away from his primary objective of reaching Havana. Those around him wonder why he continually involves himself to save them, rather than abandoning them to their fates in order to finish his foremost mission. The answer lies in his genetic bloodline, which takes the reader back to the late 18th century and the daring exploits of his great-grandfather, Donate del Marmol y Tamayo. Returning to the present, he discovers that his companions are safe enough for now, and is able to infiltrate Havana and obtain the information he was seeking: the real identities of the terrorist cell seeking to attack the United States, their exact targets, and the routes they plan to enter the US to enact their plans.
