My Joy and Celebration

redlogoOn this precious Christmas morning, the radiant sun shines down as all the world and nature celebrate this clear day. Full of hope and harmony, the earth is still without rain or even a breeze. For many around the world, it will be a pristine white Christmas. The birth of the new day signals a farewell to the past dying year and transfers its infusion of energy to the year to come. Around the world many people have different names for this time of celebration, and some even celebrate on an unconscious level, affected by the power of the birth of the Lord come as a Child King.

The mention of the name of this peace-bringer brings tears of happiness to many and a tranquility of the soul. Christ, fulfilling the prophecies shines as a bright light from heaven, expunging hate and envy from the heart and replacing it with joy. Caught in that moment I realize that Christmas has done this to my heart. I ask myself why there are so many who wish to diminish this holiday and argue that Jesus was not even born in December. To them I say this – do not try to steal the wonder of this day from my soul. This grandiose day is significant to many and if I do not speak out, the naysayers will come next to take away Hanukkah and Ramadan as well.

No matter what these vindictive opponents do, we all can put aside our differences and allow others the belief in a supreme being. The attempts of those to take away our celebrations can only be called one thing: oppression. We are not trying to take anyone else’s holy days away, so please do not take ours. I only beg you to respect my freedom for peace, love, and joy at this time.  I tell my brothers and sisters to be brave and cry out at the top of their lungs, “Merry Christmas to all.”
