The light morning sprinkles
drops pattering against an umbrella
counterpoint the rays of the bright sun
shining beautifully in the month of May

A birthday and a glass of chardonnay
wet grass and green garden delight
just beyond, sand and an empty beach
the motion of the waves is a melody

Rose petals, blood red, float to the ground
in harmony with the sea, the sun, and the rain
its dying color majestic and resonant
each one falls exactly into place

Like the tears so many have wept
through the pain in life I see
a beauty, even in death
of a lovely life lived to the full

The cycle of life and death is a masterpiece
a magical essence more than the sum of its parts
an endless symphony of elegance as a gift
my precious life, given from God to me
