To my adopted North American family: Immigration Crisis, or a distraction? Fidel Castro himself said that a true Marxist would take advantage of any crisis. This idea is still in use today. When my natural mother, Cuba, was abused and taken captive my heart bled, and it now is fearful for my adopted mother country, the United States. I don’t want to see her dragged down the same filthy roads and violated in the same way while those in power laugh in scorn. I don’t want to see her sentenced to death and stripped of her beauty by those who promise change and false hope. I left behind many brothers in tears under the slavery of Castro’s “communism.” My father carried a dagger of sorrow in his breast until his death. Whatever label we give to them now, there are those who would betray our mother country and I pray that we are able to see the truth and avoid that terrible fate.
